Gina Lollobrigida, born Luigina in 1927, made a name for herself in the 1950s and 1960s as one of the most famous European actresses of the time.
The Italian film star recently celebrated her 91st birthday and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year.
Gina stared acting at the age of 18 and worked opposite some of Hollywood's leading men during her career including Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis.
She is most famous for films such as Solomon and Sheba (1959) and Bread, Love and Dreams (1953) for which she won an award for her performance as Maria De Ritis.
Shortly after her award win and BAFTA nomination for Best Foreign Actress, Gina played the lead in 1956 films Trapeze and Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
She also starred in the aptly named film The World’s Most Beautiful Woman.
The screen legend finally retired from acting in 1997 after an impressively long list of films.
